About sports rehab therapy
Whether you play sport to a high standard or enjoy sport socially, our clinician can guide you back to sport pre-injury.
Before returning to any activity our clinician will provide you with a structured rehabilitation program. This will focus on restoring muscle strength, joint stability and slowly introducing sport-specific training to ensure the injured tissue can meet the demands of any sport.

Types of sports injuries
Due to the high demands sport places on your body, injuries can be very common.
Sports injuries can include:
- Ligament strains
- Muscle tears
- Joint dislocations and subluxations
- Fractured bones
- Cartilage tears (meniscus damage)
- Tendinitis
- Tendinopathy
- Sportsman’s hernias
- Tennis elbow
- Golfer’s elbow
- Rotator cuff damage
- Plantar fasciitis
- Intervertebral disc prolapse
- Facet joint injury
- Haematoma’s
- Concussions
Certain risk factors can predispose you to sports injuries, whether this is poor biomechanics; over-pronation of your feet, a reduced range of joint movement, poor joint stability, stiffness at the spine or excessive repetition with certain sporting skills (tennis swing, golf swing etc).
Effective sports rehab for injuries
Your initial appointment will involve an assessment and diagnosis with treatment; this may include a sports massage and home care advice.
Our sports rehab therapy aims to:
- Reduce pain and swelling
- Restore range of movement
- Rehabilitation to full function where possible
- Prevention of repeated injuries
Common conditions that may be treated:
- Shoulder injuries
- Tennis and Golfers elbow
- Back pain
- Hip and groin pain
- Shin splints and calf tears
- Achilles tendonitis
- Plantar fasciitis
- Repetitive strain injuries
Our sports rehab treatment methods
We direct our treatment management towards repair and recovery, as well as carefully looking into factors that may prevent recurrence of the injury. This may include addressing incorrect foot and lower limb biomechanics and it’s not unusual for even small misalignments or repetitive forces to be the underlying cause of the problem.
Some injuries may require a short-term course of pain relief, accompanied by a program of treatment.
We are able to provide you with a multi-disciplinary approach to your sports injury, whether this is treatment with a sports clinician, or foot health professional.
Our treatments may include:
Sports massage
This is a strong deep tissue massage to the affected area to help ease muscle tension and pain.
Cupping therapy
During cupping therapy, we apply a cup to the skin and the pressure within the cup is reduced with heat or pump to create a vacuum. The vacuum pulls the skin and tissues into the cup, helping to release muscular tension and to facilitate a deep tissue muscle repair.
Clinical Acupuncture
Acupuncture involves the use of small, disposable, single-use, sterile needles to pierce the skin’s surface to a specific depth. The location and depth of the needle insertion depend on the injury and the desired treatment effects.
Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)
Lower Level Laser Therapy treats the underlying cause of pain resulting from a painful injury – unlike medication which may only mask the pain. It has no side effects and can be combined with other forms of treatment.
