Local business We Fix Feet gets Silver Award from the Ministry of Defence for support of the Armed Forces Covenant.
This award recognises support and training for UK Armed Forces veterans and service leavers by employers.
The Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) was launched in 2014 by the Prime Minister to recognise and reward UK employers that support veterans, military spouses and cadet instructors, as well as reservists. It recognises organisations that pledge, demonstrates or advocate support to the Armed Forces community, and share the values defined in the Armed Forces Covenant.
We Fix Feet Limited are proud to have been awarded the Silver Award by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in recognition of their support towards the Armed Forces community.
The local business met all the criteria for the silver status which includes a number of positive measures and policies that we have in place advocating our support to members of the Armed Forces community within our Ilkeston and Beeston clinics. This includes and extends to veterans, reservists, Cadet Force adult volunteers and their families.
The silver status requires all employers to ensure:
- That members of the forces community are not disadvantaged in their recruitment and selection process
- That all positive policies relating to Defence personnel are internally publicised
- That they employ at least one individual from the Armed Forces category that their nomination emphasises
- If required, that they have demonstrated support to Reservist mobilisations
- That they align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
The ERS scheme bestows their Bronze, Silver and Gold status on those who have been subjected to rigorous validation by a selection board made up of senior military personnel.
Leo Docherty, Minister for Defence People and Veterans said:
“I would like to thank all the organisations who have proven their support for the Defence community during such unprecedented and challenging times.
The vast range of those recognised this year demonstrates how employing the Armed Forces community makes a truly positive and beneficial impact for all employers, regardless of size, sector or location.”
We Fix Feet Limited are honoured that our clinics have committed pledges to advocate our support to the Armed Forces community, and to the principles of the Covenant, with each clinic being recognised as Silver ERS holders.
Steve, employee of We Fix Feet and an Armed Forces Veteran said:
“I’m delighted that We Fix Feet Limited have been awarded the MoDs Silver award. I’m proud that they are supporting the Armed Forces Community and are committed to honouring the Armed Forces Covenant.”
We Fix Feet Limited has pledged its support to the Armed Forces scheme since January 2017 and received its Bronze Award status in 2019. Since then, the local business has continued to work towards gaining the prestigious Silver Award status.
We Fix Feet Limited will be formally presented with the award at the 2021 Silver Award Presentation Dinner, which will be held at the International Bomber Command Centre, Lincoln on Thursday, 14th of October.
